What trodden earth has been lost to the relentlessness of time If we only had more time Hope of a better future drawn away As dew from a tender spring leaf We walk on Forget me. Open not your weary eyes to gaze upon A visage that once brought you joy Sleep while wide awake Deep scars left behind The knife of time draws deep Memories that haunt you Unwanted imprints on a pure blanket of snow Cast aside these fleeting delusions Of a past long dead And a future buried beneath my mistakes Purity misbegotten From a yearning mind Unfulfilled, displaced desire There is no escape from this endless torrent of misery Which is rightfully mine to bear Forget me.

I hear the call; the spectral voice of the sea I heed the call; traverse the low-tide path To the grotto’s mouth; beyond the water’s edge To the barrier; between this world and the next Step by step, these weary pilgrim’s feet Draw ever closer to the precipice of my defeat Flee man’s reality To seek refuge In the embrace of earth The bramble draws me in Chasing remnants of distant, weary light Sharp, dead horizon; the wisp’s luminescence Take now this offering, left upon the soil Take now my weary bones, I slowly drift away Drift away…. Consciousness collapses in ruins And the veil slips away A shuddering heart, a pause in the breath Grey mists suffocate the day We have fortunes in doubt and disharmony And the remnants of hope smashed on rock Exposed and shivering in the pale blinding light Forever crawling, crowned in failures, our virtues forgot What solace could we have from this suffering? What could cure this aching malaise? Or visions have no future, our end already begun Walking as ghosts counting down the days The answer rides the crashing foam, calls in the soaring waves Where the sky meets the sea A beckoning expanse before me I enter its embrace, weightless in body and mind And become one with its infinite depths, Devoid of misery, of doubt, of time.
